Keep showing up!!!

I learned that Mario Puzo, the author of the Godfather books, which was later adapted in to those iconic Godfather movies, had no idea what he was doing as he'd never written a screenplay before. Amazing, isn't it??  Such stories give a lot of strength and comfort to keep working on our dreams, our projects and our lives. Since no is sure of what is going to happen, all we can do is keep showing up and keep giving our best.  In the process, we might be misunderstood or even criticised by people for whom your narratives doesn't match. It then becomes up to you to courageously continue, regardless.  Every one has an opinion, but no one has a guarantee.

In support of Kindness !!

In our team meeting, we saw a video which emphasized the importance of being kind, which has always been a rarity in today's competitive world.  The lessons were - Being kind won't make you rich or famous and that you still remain anonymous to the whole world but what you get in return is that feeling of love, you witness happiness and a distinct satisfaction at the end of the day which money simply can't buy.  But to be kind isn't always easy due to so many other emotions distracting us. Perhaps, it's also related to how one has been treated in the past or even being treated in the present. How can I be kind when I am not experiencing any kindness? These are not easy questions....  One of the answers to that question can be is that we start afresh - we start treating people well because WE CAN. We are kind because WE CAN!! That's a powerful thought, not an easy one but worth trying and see what it can lead to.. I believe it will compound.... .  I heard in one o

Happy Father's Day - 19.06.2022

My kids have gifted this book on the eve of Father's Day. I have read this book and infact, I have this book at some corner of my place but that doesn't matter. What matters is the thought and the intent behind it.  Going to the internet, scanning and then zeroing in on a book - that's what matters. My kids might not be too much in to 'reading' yet but i am a little proud today that atleast they could muster this thought of 'gifting' a book. They are on the right track.. Someday and very soon they should hop on the bandwagon of readers too.. I will wait for that day.. Till that time, as I am waiting for my hairline fracture to heal, I will read this book once again.  On that account, I wish the Superman of every son & daughter's life a Happy Father's Day.

At least he never walked !!

'What I talk about when I talk about running' is a part running and part writing memoir from one of my favorite authors - Haruki Murakami. In this book, he reflects the influence of running Marathons & participating in Triathlons had on his writing & and even more important ..on his life.  I am listing down 15 such insights from the book - Considering some of his key observations on the themes of performance, aging, adventure & life Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. Say you are running and you start to think, Man this hurts, I can't take it anymore. The hurt part is an unavoidable reality, but whether or not you can stand any more is up to the runner himself. This pretty much sums up the most important aspect of marathon running To keep on going, you have to keep up the rhythm. This is the important thing for long-term projects. Once you set the pace, the rest will follow. The problem is getting the flywheel to

The Terry Fox Story \m/

Terry Fox was a regular teenager who ran cross country and played college basketball. At the age of 18, his life changed forever when he was diagnosed with bone cancer and his right leg was amputated. The road to recovery was not an easy one and during one of those times, he decided that he will do something to help those battling for their lives due to Cancer. The night before Terry underwent his operation, his high school basketball coach brought him a running magazine that featured an article about an amputee who had run in the New York City Marathon. That night he dreamt about running across Canada and raising money for Cancer research. His simple motivation was that more money was needed for Cancer research. To make his dream come true, Terry started training and after training for 15 months, he embarked on running east to west cross- Canada. On 12th April 1980, he began his run from the Atlantic. Some days he was running 23 miles (42 Kms) a day. He stopped in more than 400 towns,

An ode to reading !

'Show me a bookshelf and i will tell you everything you'll ever need to know about him' - Walter Mosley Reading, that already underrated habit (at least in this part of the world) is dying and is dying quickly.  The ideas, the inspiration and the pleasure that these books give aren't going anywhere but the entire ecosystem of reading (which was anywhich scarce) has been replaced by brain-numbing social networking sites and mindlessly binge-watching on Netflix.  To begin with, reading at leisure for pleasure and satisfaction had never been a part of our culture. From our school days, reading was always associated with rot learning & 'by-heart' the syllabus and once it was completed, books were thrown away at a corner to be never looked back. So, while growing-up, reading became more of a punishment or compulsion and never a ritual and that habit remained with us forever.  The walk to the library has now been replaced by a casual stroll to the nearby malls or
